Four to the floor

FRANCOIS GUSTIN TRANSFORMED THE PARQUETRY OF A VIENNESE BALLROOM, DATING FROM 1863, IN TO A LIMITED EDITION OF AN 8-SEATER TABLE, WHICH ALSO DOUBLES AS A TABLE FOR CONFERENCES AND DINNER PARTIES. THE STRIKING GEOMETRY OF THE PATTERN IS REFLECTED IN THE ELEGANT CONTEMPORARY SETTING OF THE TABLE, WHICH TRANSFERS THE TROMPE L’OEIL LIKE EFFECT OF THE ANTIQUE WOODEN SURFACE IN TO STEEL, FURTHER HIGHLIGHTING THE EXTRAORDINARY QUALITY OF THE MATERIAL.

THIS COLLABORATION WITH FRANÇOIS GUSTIN MARKS THE LAUNCH OF SPOLIA.’S LIMITED EDITION SERIES.

WE COMMISSIONED GUSTIN TO REAPPROPRIATE OLD PARQUETRY WITH A GEOMETRIC FEATURE OF THE CLASSIC VIENNESE STAR PATTERN. MADE FROM A COMBINATION OF OAK, MAPLE AND WALNUT INLAYS, THE UNIQUE FEATURE REFLECTS THE MATERIAL’S ORIGINS AS THE FLOORING OF A PALAIS BALLROOM ON VIENNA’S PRESTIGIOUS RINGSGTRASSE. DATED ’1863’.
